Parents watched and waited
Hope diminishing with every passing minute
Christmas stockings never filled
Christmas presents never opened
Christmas party dresses never worn
Christmas tree lights forever dimmed
Christmas dreams never realised
Tears flood a community
Sadness overwhelms a nation
God, arms open wide
welcomes the little ones
